one of the guys on the 77's list transcribed it...

The 77's quote happens in the 1st 5 minutes of the program. Have not
listened to the rest. Here is a rough transcription of what was said:

The transfomationalists see themselves as artists, Neil. And they take
their cues from the first chapter of the first book of the Bible,
Genesis Chapter 1, where it says men and women were created in the image
of God. Well, what's God doing in Genesis Chapter 1? He's creating the
world. So, in the view of these transformational artists simply being
creative, the act of being creative itself is something that is
inherently Christian or inherently divine. So rather than needing to
use your music in a utilitarian sort of fashion to convert people, like
separational ministers tend to do, the transformational artists say
simply being creative is in itself a Christian activity. Now as a
result, their music tends to be brutally honest. Things aren't usually
wrapped up by the end of the 3rd verse with a nice happy ending where I
became a Christian and everything is great now; which sometimes tends to
happen with the separational ministers. That they can talk about hard
times but by the 3rd verse, everything's happy again. Well, with the
transfomrational artists, they might end on a down note. As a matter of
fact, one band, the 77's for example, did an entire album that focused
on the divorce of the lead singer/songwriter. There was a brutally
honest CD called DWLIS, which is probably the first Christian CD ever to
focus on the theme of divorce.

"which is probably the first Christian CD ever to

Resurrection Band - Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore

"Mommy says she don't love daddy anymore
Daddy says mommys walking out the door
Sister say she's getting married to escape
Brother say enlisting sounds just great

Me I don't know who to believe
Me I don't know how to maintain
The world as it use to be

Cause everyone is leaving me
Everyone is leaving me
Everyone

When you're eight and you're family's dying
When you're hurt and to scared to cry
What on earth can do ya do to find relief
God what is, what is happening to me..."

Don't remember the lyrics 100%, been a while since I've put this album on, I need to find it and give it a listen again. This was 1981, the whole album wasn't about divorce, but this song always made me cry. Frown Crying

10%-20% of our albums are classical--it's not an accident, it's a choice.

Once again, I'm too different for the different board. Confused

Oh, well. Smile

Where's Bax when I need him--he listens to that stuff, doesn't he, or who am I thinking of?

was intentionally written about that was "Alone Together", and even

What's amazing about that song is that the divorce half of the song had
already happened that way, but the girlfriend part hadn't yet. I could
see
it all coming around the corner though, and by the time we were mixing
that
album it all came true just like I wrote about.

I hope to never live another year like 1993.

I knew somebody did....

I hope I never live another year like 1994.

I'm trying to remember what year I discovered the band. It was either in the middle of that mess, or a year to one side or the other.
