my dad had a real to real that i used to play the messed up 8-tracks on to record them to cassette.
you had to line them up just right or it would play the wrong tracks backwards.
I had forgotten all about that till now!
I would have that dang 8-track tape strung out all over the room while getting it un-stuck and un-tangled from the case. Scotch tape worked pretty good for splicing it back together!
thanks for reminding me of this bret

Name: Eric Townsend
Birthday: February 4, 1974
Birthplace: St Louis
Current Location: St. Louis area
Current Occupation: St Charles Health Clinic / Various and ***orted kinds of rock'n roll labor
Dream Occupation: Being creative and getting paid for it.
Eye Color: Green, I think.
Hair Color: Brownish blondish mixture.. changes with my mood.
Height: 5'11''
Right Handed or Left Handed: Right
Your Heritage: English, French, Scottish, Indian, etc
Your Biggest Weakness: Right now... Fiery Habanero Doritos. Music. Books. Itallian and Cajun food.
Your Fears: Standing on a sinking boat surrounded by sharks, with no land in sight. (I've done the standing on a boat surrounded by sharks with no land in sight thing, so I guess I confronted my fear.. at least up to the act of actually sinking the boat.) Tornados.
The Perfect Pizza: California Pizza Kitchen.
Goal You Would Like To Achieve This Year: Pay off my credit cards.
Your Most Overused Phrase or word: "Whats irritating is..." (or the variation "Whats annoying is...") No shortage of things that follow those words.
Morning person or Night Owl: Night Owl.
Your Best Physical Feature: I have eyebrows that you could cut gl*** with.
Your Most Missed Memory: Going for long walks in the woods near where we live... Used to be just miles of nothing but forest and animals. Now it's a golf course and a bunch of houses.
Pepsi or Coke: Coke. Pepsi is colored sugar-water. Plus, I've seen what Coke can do to an automobile engine.
Favorite Fast Food: Subway.. or homemade Chili-lime fajitas
Can You Cook: Homemade chili-lime fajitas. And tacos.. spaghetti... a couple of other easy things like that.
Chocolate or Vanilla: Either one is just fine for me.
Cappuccino or Coffee: Neither. The stink is powerful enough.
Three Stooges, Abbot and Costello or the Marx Brothers: Marx Brothers.
Number of hours that you normally watch TV in a single day: On a bad day, maybe one or two. On a regular day, one or zero.
Favorite type of movie (Drama/comedy/action/documentary/etc): Generally.. bio-pics and dramas I guess (not the Lifetime "Give me back my baby" kind, but regular ones). Comedies are great too - but it seems to be hard for Hollywood to make good ones.

Do you Dance: Thats my new biggest fear.

Are you a Health Freak: I try to stay healthy and work out regularly, but I don't typically eat healthy.

What country would you most like to Visit: England, Ireland, Scotland, or maybe Italy.
Number of CDs I own: Got about 500 sitting on the shelf above me.. another few hundred at least in boxes in my closet.

Number of Tattoos: Zero.
Number of Message Board Alliases: Zero.
The Greatest Rock Band in History Is: The Beatles.. the 77s are pretty close behind though.
The Album I Wore Out Growing Up Was: Hmm... maybe Rubber Soul.

Name: DOC LOVE
Birthday: October 12
Birthplace: Silicon Valley
Current Location: Sacramento Valley
Current Occupation: folk singer
Dream Occupation: Jazz Legend
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Brown dyed black 'cuz it makes my eyes bluer
Height: only 5'9"
Right Handed or Left Handed: right
Your Heritage: Irish/Sicilian
Your Biggest Weakness: Laziness/Procrastination
Your Fears: just about everything
The Perfect Pizza: not perfect, but I still like good 'ol Round Table King Arthur's Supreme (NO BELL PEPPERS!!)
Goal You Would Like To Achieve This Year: become a Christian
Your Most Overused Phrase or word: "in other words"
Morning person or Night Owl: night, although morning is my favorite time of day (5-9 am). Too bad I usually sleep through it. I hope to turn this around but mornings are tough on musicians physically.
Your Best Physical Feature: eyes
Your Most Missed Memory: my maternal Grandparents -- my life has a hole in it now
Pepsi or Coke: Coke, no contest there
Favorite Fast Food: In & Out Burger
Can You Cook: real good
Chocolate or Vanilla: choc
Cappuccino or Coffee: coff, although you can't beat an iced latte when it's made correctly
Three Stooges, Abbot and Costello or the Marx Brothers: The Stooges RULE!! The Mark Brothers were great, but in a more sophisticated genius-level way. I go for the more knucklehead slapstick humor.
Number of hours that you normally watch TV in a single day: less than one
Favorite type of movie (Drama/comedy/action/documentary/etc): I like all those, but drama probably. I really enjoy films but have a hard time staying awake through them. Kinda like church in that way.
Letterman or Leno: Conan (I like all three)
Do you Smoke: very casually
Do you Sing: that's a nice word for it
Do you Dance: ummm......next question
Most unusual talent: I can turn my arms 360 degrees around -- it's disgusting but fun at parties
You like to regularly challenge yourself by: nope
Do you get Motion Sickness: yes
Are you a Health Freak: no, but I am concerned and sensible about it.
Do/did you get along with your Parents: didn't then, do now
Do you like Thunderstorms: yes, because they are rare in California
Do you play an Instrument: guitar/b***/mandolin/harp/skin flute, with a little piano...very little
Have you ever Stolen Anything: Beatle bubble gum cards once. I also used to bilk the phone company lots by running from phone booths after making regional 'message unit' calls without paying the overage. Oh yeh, and tons of software and illegal mp3 downloads. I'm your basic thief, I guess
Have You Ever been Beaten up: verbally yes, physically no....picked on a bit as a youngster, but I always avoided physical fighting
What do you want to be when you Grow Up: a Christian
What country would you most like to Visit: Japan, or France. Mostly I just want to go back to Italy and see all of it this time. I only saw Rome for one day, and as you know about Rome, it wasn't etc..
Number of CDs I own: hundreds, I wouldn't want to try and count. It's a mess all over the house.
Number of Piercings: seven
Number of Tattoos: none 'cuz at the height of the fad I had a skin condition. No regrets, they look like **** in about thirty years
Number of Message Board Alliases: Doctor only
The Greatest Rock Band in History Is: The Beatles. Zep runs a close second, but they seemed like a logical outgrowth of their talent. Everything about The Beatles felt more miraculous and alchemical. I feel fortunate to have grown up during the amazing period when both bands existed at the same time!
The Album I Wore Out Growing Up Was: oh gosh lots of those, but I definitely wiped out Dave Brubeck's "Jazz At Oberlin". "Meet The Beatles", "Sgt. Pepper" & "Revolver" got worn out for sure, along with "50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong". Don't get me started here.
