I guess the lyrics I typed up needed more editing than I thought they did. Tongue

It's times like this that I'm so glad I'm a girl and don't think like a guy.

the men don't know but the little girls understand

"You eats your dinner, eats your pork & beans ... I eats more chicken than a man ever seen ...."

There used to be a saying back in my former days -- "backyard no babies" -- being pure in heart, I never knew what was being said ....

Cynthia, thank you very very much for transcribing the lyrics. I know that takes a bit of time to do and you were busy with your family. So I really appreciate that.

Doc, any chance of getting those lyrics up? Maybe the audori boys could vet the lyrics if you're otherwise occupied? Surely three sets of eyes could come up with a pretty accurate transcription.

thanks...

  shame shame shame

I totally forgot about it and will try and blast through it right now.

Now things are even worse. I can't find the file anywhere.

Cynthia?

No problem. I actually enjoyed doing it - I guess I don't listen to the words very carefully when I'm casually listening to music, because it really gave me a new appreciation for the songs. The words were very powerful lyrics.

I'll go through my sent file and find it and resend it...

I understand the desire to proof the lyrics transcription before publishing it on the web site. But until that happens, would it be possible for me to get to get a private copy of the lyrics? I understand without being vetted, they may not be totally accurate. I promise not to forward or duplicate the lyrics anywhere else - just for my own use. Maybe you or Cynthia could e-mail or pm me?

  finally

OK everyone, I have just about got this puppy under control.

There are a few dubious things that I will have to check by actually listening to the disc itself, but it's 95% there.

Cynthia did a (mostly) outstanding job with this. There are a few funny personal interpretations she fell into which I found most amusing, but I am actually quite surprised that there wasn't a whole lot more of that -- most folks end up practically rewriting the song!

Cyn, I will forward the Word doc. back to you as soon as I am all finished up.

IT'S ALIVE!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!

For some reason, I used to think the song "There Forever" from AGFORC had the lyric "My life's been empty in bed" rather than "My life's been empty and bare". Of course, I never verified it on the lyric sheet until someone told me what you were actually saying.

Also, at the beginning of the bridge on "Alone Together", it used to sound to me like you were saying "ooooh g***mnit my love". But, I figured Word would have censored that. I didn't know what that lyric actually was until I was finally able to read it online in the late 90s.

I love Mondegreens.

(A mondegreen is the mishearing or misinterpretation of a phrase, typically a standardized phrase such as a line in a poem or a lyric in a song, due to near homophony, in a way that yields a new meaning to the phrase.)

  RE: finally

Guess I should have guessed that there would be quite a few misinterpretations since I used to think the lyric "Get Up and Boogie" was about a guy named "Azookie" that wouldn't get out of bed. Roll Eyes (However, I was just a small child then...)

It will be interesting to see the spots that were so far off. Smile
