  77s rarity on ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/7-7is-box-set-RARE-77s-seventy-sevens-Michael-Roe-%2077s_W0QQitemZ260190983206QQihZ016QQcategoryZ307QQs<br%20/>sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What do you get for a 77s / Mike Roe fan who has almost everything?

This is one of the very rare limited edition 7&7is boxed sets released by Alternative Records in 1989. It is signed by three of the musicians heard on the recordings. The set contains:

a CD3 with "the Treasure in You," "Miserable," and "Perfect Blues."

a 45 RPM 7" transparent gold vinyl single with "Jesus" and "Unsatisfied."

a cassette with "The Treasure in You," "Come and Gone," "Miserable," and "UUUU" (or is that "U U U U?" It looks different, depending on the release).

This is all contained in a black box with the printing on a silver foil background. I'm not sure how many were printed, this one is #795 (it is handwritten with a metallic gold paint pen, though I was not able to capture that very well in the picture). The box is a bit scuffed and worn, which is how it was when it came into my possession over a decade ago (I have taken great care to protect it from further damage since then). It has been about that long since I have played any of the recordings, but I don't recall any issues with them, and they all appear to be in near perfect shape.

While the songs can now be found on other releases, those albums can be difficult to find as well. The only difference that I recall is that the version of "Unsatisfied" on this release is JUST slightly longer than the version on "Shirley, Goodness, and Misery." It is the same recording, and the song itself is not longer, but the beginning of the recording, which was live, starts just a touch sooner, so you get a TINY bit more concert atmosphere. This may not matter to most folks, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

The back of the box is signed by Michael Roe in purple marker, which I suspect may have been how it came (that's how it came to me, anyway. I also have had the opportunity to add some additional signatures. Aaron Smith signed the back in black sharpie. The CD3, the cassette, and the inside of the J-card, have been signed by Michael Roe and Mark Harmon in black sharpie. The A-side label of the 7" has been signed by Michael Roe as well, though it is hard to see because it is black on black.

I would LOVE this! Not to mention I DON'T have Shirley, Goodness, and Misery!!!!!! If anyone EVER sees that or has a copy they need to get rid of I am the one to let know!!! So many people have talked abot Shirley and that is the one thing I don't own and songs I don't have (that I know of) except the one from this box set.
MAN!
I know, my wife tells me all the time, it IS a disease!

I've got that sitting in my bedroom......amazing box set. And for my money, "Unsatisfied" is EASILY the best 77s song ever recorded. When I first learned guitar, I feverishly worked on that song and "Don't, This Way" until I pegged them note-for-note.

Don't do that to me. I've never even heard it.

It's not a cover of The Replacements song of the same name is it? Confused

Great box set. I've got two copies of this stashed away in my 77s vault.

This box set is sweet, I really wish they could do more like this. You know there has got to be a disc of rarities 'stashed away' somewhere in Doc Love's secret vault just dying to see the light of day!

A re-issue of the box set would be very cool! Cool

I'm shocked no one else has bid on this. Admittedly, I bid on it, but I have no idea what the reserve is set at......likely it is beyond my max bid (which is fine), but either way, I'm interested in seeing where this lands.

HOLY CRAP. This is ri-donk-ulous.

I was the only one to bid, so the guy relisted it with no reserve. Check that starting price.......

It's not worth any where near that price. He probably won't get it, especially during the holidays. If it does sell, well, lucky him, but I doubt it will sell at that price, although items with a reserve price do put some bidders off.

  I'm Not Bidding Because....

I'm Not Bidding Because...i already have the BOX and the Shirley's!!! YES!! YES!!! Mine is #2/90 and it's also signed by MR. M.R. in a purple sharpie as well! It's the coolest pack!...i knew immediately back in the late 80's when this came out to get them pronto!

Don't do this to me either!!! NEVER heard it!!!!!! And it is not fair that some have both! I wasn't really aware of good music in the 80's!!!
