  The Wedding Songs Thread

There always seems to be someone here or on the LISTSRV that is looking for cool 77s songs to use at weddings. I think it might be appropriate to have a single resource for anyone who is interested in using a 77s song in their wedding.

Let's keep the listings in similar formats, esp. for the sake of those who might not be as familiar with the scope of the 77s/Mike's work. So, we'll try for song title, artist, release title.

Examples:

Don't, This Way / 77s / Sticks & Stones

or

Ache Beautiful / Michael Roe / Safe As Milk

Happy posting!

Shocked i wouldn't consider don't this way a wedding song Shocked

Imagine
All those years together
As a blackbird with no song to sing
Imagine
Throwing it to the air
But it falls from broken wings

Don't leave this way, so many words unsaid
Don't lie this way, stretched straight from
Feet to head

Imagine
The sky is pouring down
On the back of all those years
Imagine
That bird helpless on the ground
Shot down by all those tears

Don't leave this way, so many words unsaid
Don't lie this way, stretched straight from
Feet to head
Don't look this way, closed eyes, unmoving lips
Don't feel this way, cold hands and fingertips

maybe "This Is The Way Love Is"

"Don't, This Way" is a funeral song

I think "Deliverance" would make a good wedding song

  Dreams

I think this could be a great song for a wedding:

Thank You For Your Dreams
from the album "Fun With Sound"

(Michael Roe/Mark Harmon)

I've come a long way
But went the wrong way
I started out right but took a wrong turn
No light to shine my way
No oil to light my lantern

And on the darkest night
You looked into my eyes
I knew you knew me from the start
You came along and captured
My heart was spinning fast and hard

I don't know what it means
But everything inside my heart you knew
Thank you for your dreams

I'm never wise, I'm otherwise
But smart enough to see
The fire in your smile
The wisdom in your eyes
The darkness fled the night
The night you saw the light in me
And sittin' on the windowsill
In sunlight in the morning still
Still it felt so right

You sewed up every seam
You made love make a brand new man of me
Thank you for your dreams

I've spent my life asleep
I dream to see the day in me
And suddenly awake
We see the life, the love that two can share
I'll take you there

I came a long way
To go the wrong way
My life poured out like rain upon the storm
Storm and stress has set the scene
For what I've been

It wasn't what it seemed
There was more to you and now I see
Thank you for your dreams

You knew just what it means
Hopeless plans and schemes
And at the end of all my plans and schemes was you
Thank you for your dreams

And now I know it's true
There's someone looking out for me and you
Thank God for your dreams

Or maybe "I Pull the Twine" from It's For You

Or maybe "Rise"??

But definitely NOT "I Could Laugh"............

It's obvious that he would like to see Ellie Mae stay in her twine-belted jeans when she finally marries What's-His-Face Drysdale under the walnut tree by the ceement pond. That is so romantic.
