RE: Lost Dogs, Oct 16th in Eugene, OR

if I lived anywhere near Eugene, I would be there. Since I am a little over 2000 miles from there, I don't believe that I will be able to make it. Sorry!

I tried to talk my wife into either the everett or bremerton show, but we just can't make any of them, just too busy and it is a looooong drive from Boise.

The show was GREAT! Thanks again, Linda and Glenn, for another great show in our area. Last night was a classic! (There *was* a board recording of the show, wasn't there?)

Those of us here could add a few posts to the "Famous Roe Quotes" thread. And to think...*I* was raised Assembly Of God!

Mike, thanks for some great laughs, great gee-tar, and spot-on harmonies. My dad says your hair is even darker than last year. Wink

Here's hoping to see you in Vancouver or Roseburg in December,

  A Review from the DADL

Review by, Doug Wyman

sigh…

Linda and Glen were terrific! (as usual). Thank You, Glen and Linda!

Theo is better every time I see him, and since he was pretty good the first time, that means he has risen to the ranks of awesome. Theo’s voice was strong, haunting and lovely. “Little angel boy” brought tears, and then he shocked us all with “Over the rainbow”. Some times, the performance is the context for the lyric. Such was true, as thoughts of Dorothy were erased and replaced with hope of God’s Kingdom.

The Dogs opened with “If You Want To”, and established from song one that the harmonies were going to be the course du jour. Oh man what harmonies! Angels in heaven were covetous last night. “Somewhere in the distance”, “Sunshine Down”, “Come Down Here” were all on display. Terry’s “The Lust, The Flesh” was a group catharsis for all in attendance. The house was duly rocked by “If You Loved Here”. Also covered was “Free Drinks and A Dream”. I know I forgot a couple tunes, but I was far too mezmerized to take notes.

Then came a new version of “Why is The Devel Red” OH MY GOD! The intro was a three guitar volley, with “Old West” Mike Roe takin’ us back to the haunted prairie, to ponder the immortal question… In the middle break of the song, Mike let loose a smokin’ fingered solo that just rocked! A long outro for the song allowed Mike to channel Tommy Morrello and a united harmony took us home. Fan-freakin-tastic performance! YeaHaw!

For encores the guys gave us “Bad Indegestion” which we all ate up! And they closed out with “Joel.” Simply loveliness! The whole show felt intimate and warm. After the show, all three guy’s smiled as wave after wave of fans mobbed them. They were very gracious, and I think they know just how much we appreciate it.

I guess having to daily face a world that is so dark, and getting darker. And tolerate a church culture that thinks Twilla Paris is a genius, and keeps shoving “Carman-Like” talent in your face is just about worth it when you get to be at a Dogs Show. If we have to live through all of this, God gave us Four Guys (Theo, Derri, Terry and Mike) Who are willing to go from town to town and love all of us, even though they do not get paid enough. Even though The church does not show them the respect they deserve–even though they would rather be at home on a Sunday night. I am convinced guys like
these are urged by God to be here for fans like us.

Thanks Theo, Thanks Dogs.
We Love You

Doug

I'd better write something before I forget it all.

Actually, this was an uneventful day...thank goodness. Everything went like clockwork, no surprises or catastrophes. :-)

The afternoon started out great. Theo and I arrived around 11 am to the WOW Hall where I partnered with a homeless outreach group to provide music for this daytime event. Theo played off and on during the afternoon while I helped serve in the food line until about 1:30 pm when the Dogs arrived (after getting lost momentarily). They took the stage around 2 pm and gave the people more than they were looking for.

It was awesome. Everybody had been talking and milling around until the Dogs strummed the first chord. After that, they were mesmerized, listening intently and giving hearty applause after each song. Mike told me later that the outreach was the highlight of the weekend for him, that he knew that's where Jesus would've been.

The ticketed evening show went great, too. I didn't keep track of the set list, but there will be a DVD recording available in the near future. Randy Layton brought his dat recorder and a friend of his had two cameras filming the entire show.

Thanks to all of you who came out and supported the show and a huge thank you to the Lost Dogs. Big Grin

Linda
