Doc & Randy Jackson - together

Been totally enjoying the first two episodes of American Idol -- hilarious, touching, ridiculous.... next to Jerry Springer, this is the best/worst show on television. You can't beat it for good old fashioned cornball American entertainment.

And then I remembered that Randy Jackson and I played together on the track "It's No Surprise" on Charlie Peacock's 1986 eponymous album on Island Records. Since it was so long ago, I sent a note to Charlie today on MySpace just to make sure. He wrote back and confirmed it.

You can all touch me now.. Roll Eyes

Dibs. I would like to touch doc somewhere other than that leaky left breast.

This was actually people ballet. The Asian gentleman, whose name may have been Alphonse, was doing an original composition that was sort of a cross between "Give Peace a Chance" and "We Are the World". His white satin outfit was a little reminiscent of the Scarlett O'Hara outfit that Carol Burnett had on her show with the curtain rod left in it. He was quite sincere, and sweet in his way. Randy started the dance with him, but I think all four of them were dancing together by the end of it, and Simon gave him a parting hug.

My bro's thinking of trying out next year for the hell of it. He can actually sing though, really well. But he's not into American Idol-type stuff. He'd probably sing Depeche Mode or something. He likes a lot of 77s songs too. "The Years Go Down" is his fav I think. Cool

I think, personally, that it's more exciting that Doc played with Charlie Peacock, which we all already know from WCD, but it's still really exciting to hear about again.

Been enjoying American Idol too. And it gave me a chance to explain to my kids why certain people may or may not come across as attractive to others - that it actually has a lot to do with a person's attitude and what's coming across from the inside, not really what's just on the outside. (Like the Star Wars chic. Her not being accepted had way more to do with her attitude than with any outward appearance like she was complaining about.)
