The Message Boards
I'm testing something with the Lost Dogs board.. you guys can find it at
www.thelostdogs.com/post/
The board link on the main page of the site will also take you there at the moment.
Our boards are being targeted by porn & casino spamming bots, so I'm checking to see if changing the board address will fix it. It's hard to shake them lose because they're not registering to actually post - just create a user profile.

Ahhh.. clever idea... I'll see if we can do that on this type of board.

We're currently updating all of the message boards... the Lost Dogs board and the MichaelRoe board are already completely updated to the newest versions.
We are backing up everything we can for the 77s and DA boards before we try to do an update on those. The big problem with those boards is that it's jumping from a 2.1.X board to a 2.2.X board. The Dogs and MichaelRoe boards were created as 2.2.X boards so it was very simple.
Going from 2.1, to 2.2. is a big leap in coding and board structure. It's similar to when we originally updated the DA board from the original beta version. Thats why we're being extra careful with it. When we did that old DAmb update, the update program itself crashed while trying to convert the old messages to the new board format. Thats why we ended up losing some posts. We don't know if the 2.1 to 2.2. update will try to convert the posts again or not, but we want to play it safe just in case.
This will solve all of the registration spamming problems that we have been having problems with, and should make the boards run a little more efficiently as well. There should even be some new user options for folks to play with.

We did get the 77s board database backuped up to a file last night, so that stores all user informaion, threads and posts to a file so that if something goes terribly wrong...we can get it all back. Currently we are looking in to how to put that database back from the file so that in the event the board crashed, we could get back to normal quickly.
That is the main thing we wanted to be sure about before trying to update the DA and 77s boards since they are HUGE.

When all else fails, get a new place with a higher fence. It's a good idea not to get rid of the old one until the deal closes, though.

OK... finally, the board has been updated. It ended up taking quite a few hours to get it all updated and working. Updating from such an old version just seems to create all kinds of problems.. weird database issues, corrupted files, CHMOD changes, etc.
There is a small problem with new registrations at the moment, which should be worked out tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I'm just too tired to do it right now.

THeres still a couple of thigns that need sorted out.. .avatars, pics, etc. Most of that is just setting permissions, etc. Nothing huge, but it just takes time to get it all figured out. One little thing thats set wrong and nothing will work correctly. Hopefully I'll have all of that sorted out tonight.

The attachments and avatars actually are uploading, they are in the directories. Some reason they and the registration image just don't want to show up. Gotta think this part over some.
