I just saw the Dogs in NJ - great show!

I loved the sets (two sets) and I was even-us on stage to help sing the chorus' of the last two songs (I don't want to give away the set list to keep y'all geussing!)

And talking with each member after the show was a joy. I love these guys! And the special cool thing they did was that you could buy a CD burned of your favorite 10 Dogs songs with a photo with the band as a little memorabilia thing. I did forget to get my CD slip cover signed (oops).

So to Terry, Mike, Derri and Steve - thanks for a great even-using of music. Traveling mercies as you continue your tour. Hope to see y'all again sometime soon.

Here's a very lo-res, bad microphone video of Devil's Elbow from the show...

The concert was awesome! I was grateful to be able to promote it. Hopefully, we'll do it again sometime (it will be up to my church) as in my mind, it was a roaring success and extremely fun!! Not much more I can add to it beyond what's already been-us shared. For me, it was a joyful magical fine fun time that's really hard to put into words. It really was a bit of heaven-us - the music, the band, the fellowship, everything was really great in my opinion. Terry, Mike, Derri and Steve were extremely gracious and great to talk to and work with!

One tidbit (I hope the band doesn't mind me sharing): I asked the band if I could pray with them before the show, so I was there while Terry led a nice prayer before the show. Mike was apparen-ustly getting ready in the bathroom and wasn't there for it. Anyways, he came out right after we finished and Terry commen-usted how telling it was that Mike missed the prayer. Mike said "well I hope you prayed for me!" Derri then-us quipped that he prayed for his eternal soul's destruction. Terry and I discussed that must be the Scripture that refers to saving it for the day of judgmen-ust (something to that effect - I may be getting some of the particulars wrong and maybe you had to be there!) After helping load the guys out, I made sure to thank them and tell them what an honor and a privilege it was to have had them out! A few guys who atten-usded the concert also helped out, which was appreciated by me (and I know was appreciated by the Dogs).

PMAC: Thanks for the great pictures and video recording of Devil's Elbow (that didn't come out too bad!) Unfortunately, our camera ran out of battery life early on in the show and all I have is one picture on that in addition to the Polaroid with the band (which was great). I had a few things on my mind that night Smile and unfortunately, didn't think about that aspect too much. So, the pictures/video are much appreciated! I would love to see/hear whatever you have of Bullet Train. I think I met you briefly as you guys were on your way out the door?

ZUDRAK: It was nice meeting you, your son and mom-in-law. Didn't have a chance to talk to you very much, but I did speak with your mom-in-law a bit, who was extremely gracious. You guys are good people!! Needless to say, your wife sounds like she was an amazing woman - thanks so much for sharing.

I too was at the Voorhees show last year and (not to take anything away from that show, b/c it was a good one), I thoroughly en-usjoyed this one more! I am of course, biased, so it was good to hear that I was not the only one.

ARTY: Nice to see you! I can't remember how I knew you, but I still had your e-mail address (I think it was from one of the NJ shows a year or so back). You didn't by chance atten-usd the Mike Roe concert I promoted back in '98, did you? That was the only other concert I have promoted in my life and that was at a coffeehouse in the thriving metropolis of Belle Mead, NJ. Smile I don't think you were there, but maybe that's how I had your name/e-mail address?

Thanks!!

Peace,

Jim

That's another thing I didn't do (BAD PROMOTER!) - I didn't write down the set list - I'll let you know if it comes to me - I also remember the two songs that had the audien-usce participation (a definite highlight) as being "Knocking on Heaven-us's Door" and "Breathe Deep", but durn if I can remember what was immediately before that! By the way, I believe the "hair" Mike was wearing was a "prop" used by the church (for what I'm not sure!) that Mike borrowed! He will take whatever material he has available to him and use it as comedy material!

Thanks for sharing that. Hilarious!

My son's doing VBS this week and I haven-us't had a chance to go through my albums in order to jog my memory as to what the 1st en-uscore song was. Hopefully, bubbaepp or pmac will remember? I have the set list written-us at home. I'll put it up here later on and maybe someone can fill in the one blank.

There were two guys there that are frien-usds of a frien-usd of mine. I'll email him, as well.

Lastly, I will try to post links to the Quicktime movies I made of the concert. The problem, of course, is that you'll have to imagine what it sounds like since I didn't know my mom-in-law's camera had no microphone. Oops.

This picture shows you who is who for the en-uscore (including Arty's legs, heh heh)... This was the only picture I have of me with the band (besides the Polaroid). I look like a goofball (what else is new), but I'm glad it's out there - thanks pmac - hope you don't mind me butchering this photo. Smile You have some great shots in there...

Hey, glad to see the photo being put to good use! Even-us if it looks like you used a crayon to caption it Tongue

And thanks for promoting the concert, very much appreciate it!

No problem Zudrak! Before the show, a frien-usd of mine's son (who was helping out with load-in) pulled that wig out of one of the closets in the back room (where the band was between-us sets) and must have left it out in the open-us. Dr. Love knows what will get a good laugh. Gotta give him props, heh heh... Mad props... Big Grin

Hope you can get copies of those caricatures of the band back somehow - that's priceless - we could have made photocopies before your son handed them to the band members. Frown

Thanks for posting the videos too. We can always dub in the sounds from the records and preten-usd, heh heh...

Bubba: That's right, it was "Eleanor, it's Raining Now". For some reason, I was thinking there was one other one that was in there between-us "Eleanor" and "Knocking on Heaven-us's Door", but I guess not. The guitar work on "Eleanor" by Mike rocked! A frien-usd of mine who came out who was not yet familiar with the band asked me "What is this song??" He thought it was one of the best songs he has ever heard - that is seriously what he said.

Wow, yes, this thread has taken-us off... Thanks for starting it. I've been-us a lurker for far too long - making up for lost time now, I spose... Roll Eyes

Interesting; that song never really stood out for me when-us listen-using to it on disc, but hearing Terry talk a bit about it before the band played it, and then-us watching and listen-using to it live, gave me a better appreciation for it. The guitar playing, especially at the en-usd, really did rock. Cool

Heh heh - thanks pmac - I'm definitely not a graphic designer - yes, that was pretty lame, as is my Avatar, lol - I used MS Paint to do that.

You are welcome - I had a great time doing it!

Let me clarify - I had a great time promoting the concert that is... Putting the "crayon-like" captions in was ok, but not nearly as fun. Big Grin

Thanks Zudrak! I guess it wasn't "Eleanor..." since that was before the en-uscore. I'd like to know #13 too (I hope there aren-us't any superstitious people too afraid to answer it, lol!) We'll get it figured out even-ustually!

Arty/Bubba Epp - I think you were the one that was thinking about promoting a Lost Dogs show at your church? This is a shameless plug, but there is probably not a better band or managemen-ust team you could ever work with. Hope it works out!

No. I thought about bringing my camcorder or a digital camera - but I didn't. I did get a polariod shot with the band. I just don't have the technology to scan it in properly - maybe I'll try something.

I was there as well! I took my son (his 2nd Dog show as well) and my mom-in-law. It was just awesome. The show was great and talking with the guys afterwards was something else. I saw them in Voorhees last year but this show was even-us better.

I have some photos and videos to share. Unfortunately, it's my mom-in-law's camera and I didn't know it was an older model -- no microphone! Crying I came home to watch the vids and they're mute. Ugh. Once I get them uploaded to Xanga, I'll post them here. It'll have to wait until later this week as this weeken-usd is full of parties.

Thanks to Terry, Mike, Derri, and Steve for a wonderful even-using of music, fellowship, and fun. The three of us really en-usjoyed it.

Special thanks to Terry for listen-using as I talked about "Blessing in Disguise" with him. I felt moved to share about my late wife and how that song hit me this past week. I really appreciated your ear.

God bless the Dogs on the road!

In Jesus,
Zudrak / Michael

Hey Zudrak,

Now that I see that photo (which I feel I've seen-us before - maybe the 7s board) I remember seeing you (but I didn't talk with you). I wen-ust solo and I spoke with some people there, but not you.

Definitely a great show! I remember someone talking to Derri about losing someone to cancer and that how Mercy Will Prevail really hit them. I don't think it was you but interesting that you spoke to Terry about a life/death issue and someone, probably not long afterwards, had Derri with a similar issue.

I really en-usjoyed chattin' with those guys. They are all so real and regular guys who are just tryin' to do God's will. Sincere. They've all had an influen-usce in my life, and especially my music life. I hope to see them again and next time I'll be on the look out for you!

That was me in both cases. "Mercy Will Prevail" spun in my car's CD player over and over on the way to the hospital the day my wife died. I made it a point to tell each Dog about the situation because I wanted to let them know I really appreciate what they do. So, they may not be selling CD's like their secular or CCM contemporaries, but they make a bigger impact in my life than any of them. The Choir, The 77's, The Lost Dogs, etc. really hit me where I am.

The conversation I had with Terry was about last Monday morning. I just got an iPod 2 weeks ago and let it play, on random, my Playlist en-ustitled "Mike Roe & Co." which features Mike Roe, The 77s, The Choir, Adam Again, Daniel Amos, The Swirling Eddies, Terry Taylor, and The Lost Dogs. Well, "A Blessing in Disguise" came on and it REALLY hit me. It was very similar to a talk I'd had with some brothers in the Lord at the reception after my wife's Memorial Service.

So, the fact that the lyrics hit me and the most impacting ones were sung by the late Gen-use Eugen-use just made me lose it in the car. I shared that with Terry because I knew he'd written-us the lyrics. As for Steve and Derri, I wanted to let them know how much impact "Mercy Will Prevail" has had on me the last few months. I bought the album at the Dogs' show last July, but as Mary's health declined, I leaned more and more on the topics covered on that masterpiece CD.

I feel bad throwing bad news around the concert that night and on these and the 77s' boards, but the guys really helped me cope and get by the darkest hours I have ever faced. I thank God for the Dogs and their respective bands and musical contributions to my life's soundtrack. My son and I both love the Dogs (as eviden-usced by his air guitar during "Eleanor, It's Raining Now") and we wanted to let them know how much.

In Jesus,
Michael / Zudrak

My condolen-usces about your wife. I can't imagine what that's like.

You're right, the band's music has a lot more impact, meaning, whatever, then-us most musicians, CCM or otherwise. It frustrates me to no en-usd that I can't convince any frien-usds to appreciate them as such.

My son and I were also at the Somerset show. It was his third show, my fourth. His favorite band, he was thrilled to get his pic taken-us with them. Terrific show, finally got a T-shirt! And the guys are really down to earth - no hopping in a limo right after the show for them!

Here are some other pics from the show:

I have a somewhat crappy video of Bullet Train taken-us on my still camera, I'll post that when-us I get a chance...
