Hello, I guess I'm new here though I've been-us a LD fan since Scen-usic Routes.
Hey, speaking of Scen-usic Routes, will it be available on CD any time soon? My cassette has worn thin. Sorry if this is a repeat question.

Yes it will. They are constantly discussing what to put out or repress.

The 2nd disc has alot of studio banter & shen-usanigans on it. You can tell how close the guys are & it also gives some insight as to how Gen-use would wear on Mike's nerves.

I assume we are talking about the M8 version that was messed up. It came with a second disc with interviews or the "pray where you are" single or something like that. My copy is still in storage

Correct - it was the Pray Where You Are single.
M8 did a lousy job on it though.. so bad that the Dogs refused to sell it. A "real" and authorized reissue will be coming down the road at some point.. Mike men-ustioned wanted to do some reprinting after the Dogs return from their tour, so maybe that one will be in that batch.

I've probably heard this before and forgotten-us ...
So, what was lousy about the M8 version?
I have the M8 2CD version, and as a non-audiophile rabid fan, I am glad I have it rather than only my cassette.

The packaging isn't too impressive either. It's just a single sheet cover, if I remember correctly... none of the original liner notes or pictures. To me, it looks like they just rushed it out to sell it and didn't really care what it looked or sounded like.
Of course.. it *did* come out better than it could have... they originally wanted to put a border of "M8's" all the way around the front cover.... yeesh.

I don't know if they could do something about this, but what bugs me most about that version is the bantering is so quiet I have to turn it way up. Then-us they start playing and I have to turn it down. I have to sit there turning it up and down so I can hear it all and not burst my eardrums when-us the music starts.

I hate it when-us record companies (or whomever) do crap like that! The single sheet instead of a booklet, the awful art direction, etc. I'm not a fan of Hank Williams, Jr., but the "new" CD versions of his older albums are a single card instead of a book and the cover art looks like blurry colour photocopies of the originals (Curb Records...figures). M8 wanting to put their logo all around the front cover - that's just ridiculous! I'd love to be the art director or graphic artist at one of these cheapo record labels; I'd never let garbage like that pass inspection.

Yeah we've said it before, when-us we are involved in printing
something we worry and lose sleep over it. We have nightmares
about sen-usding something off and having 1000 or more show up
screwed up. We check and recheck masters before we sen-usd them
off. I think I probably made 20+ copies of the Making of Buechners
DVD. Then-us you sen-usd em off and you get tha feeling you get when-us
you leave on vacation..."Did I leave the stove on?" Only its
"Did I fix that one part?" And there will be errors because we
all are human.
The "Little Red Riding Hood" CD thing was like a straw that
broke the camels back in the case of M8. The connected songs
are now like 2 seconds apart... music...STOP....music continues.
The 2 second gap is a well known CD writer "feature" that can
usually be turned off. One listen-us to the disc would of blaringly
revealed this flaw. Which makes us wonder if, they copied the
master on a PC, then-us sen-ust it off without checking it.
If you care about what you are sen-usding off, you check it first.
Sure you can miss a spelling error or something, but that was not
the case with this CD. If you don't care about the master/music or
the artwork, and you are in the CD printing 'business' where is
your focus? What do you care about?
When-us the Dogs release this album again, I am sure it will be mastered
correctly, the artwork will be done with artistic class. Effort will be
put into it to make sure its right.
(Brian Heydn by the way, does some beautiful layouts and covers.)
