Has the band ever considered re-releasing or putting back into production some of the old CD's that are hard to find, but in demand by the fans? If this has been considered at one time, why was the decision made to not do so? I'm not in the industry, so I don't know how much it costs to burn a thousand or so copies to put in stores or on ebay.

yeah.. i still miss some albums and i can't find them (at reasonable prices) here in lil ol' holland... having them reprinted would certainly make my day... or week... i bet it's expensive though...

i would like to see 'Little Red Riding Hood' back in print, i know there are some m8 copies floating around, but since they apparently managed to mess up the reissue really badly i would like a proper reissue.......

also, i find it somewhat strange that ' Scenic Routes' is not in print. Fools Of The World has done one pressing of that one (so there shoudn't be any legal perobelms, etc with that title ???), why not make another pressing when there seems to be a demand for the title...or perhaps that's the problem, there is no demand ? It's a financial thing more than anything else with some of the Dogs titles. I know they want to get them back in print, but I don't think they want to spend a bundle on it if that money can be used for something new. Like right now, the Dogs have some cash saved but it'll probably be used on the new album when it comes together.

Believe it or not, some of us are still paying off debts that were created from the 2000-2003 time period. I have a discover card that I'm still paying down that was used on a number of releases, for example. It should have been paid off as the debts were created - which was the original plan, but.... well, thats a long story. Anyway, once it's paid down, I plan to start offering to the Dogs, DA and the 77s to reissue some of their older CDs one at a time and just pay it off through sales. That would help get stuff in print without having to cause any of the bands (or anyone else) to go broke up front... and without preorders.

I've posted this before, but I'm really interested in getting Scenic Routes. My cassette is almost busted. I don't necessariy need the CD with the liner notes, etc. Just getting mp3s would be great. How about putting Scenic Routes and Little Red Riding Hood on iTunes along with the other Dogs songs?

There has been some talk about making downloads available.. I'm not sure what the latest on that is.

The songs currently on iTunes are put up by BEC... I'm not sure the Dogs actually get anything out of those downloads.

The audiorians are we Townsends. Smile

We spend all week in a product tent with Dan Michaels at Cornerstone though... Big Grin

We could look at doing that ebay download thing that some people do maybe. Again the download thing is difficult to work out at times dependant on which album is owned by who. Some have to be negotiated.

to take this thing off topic...do the esteemed audi's know anything about the summer tour for the Dogs? I posted a few weeks ago here, but there's been no response, its interesting that the fall tour is filling with dates but nothing for the earlier summer one.

Audi's...

So the Dogs don't own all their own music, as in the rights to the masters? After seeing "Ray", it sounds like maybe it rarely happens that a band owns all the rights to their own music. A dumb question maybe, but I'm a telecommunications guy, not a recording guy.

And saying that the recording people own some of the originals, are we talking thousands or tens of thousands to borrow the originals for a few days to make some copies...or am I way off here?

I don't want to get anyone's Discover card in trouble, so what if, in theory, we LD junkies raised money by all sorts of means to help fund such a transaction? Do manufacturers require full payment up front, or can some of it be offset and paid later, after some sales are made to record stores and to fans, etc.? I'll bet you could get plenty of shops to order a case or two, once released.

BTW...I just bought a 2-CD release of Red Riding Hood and Pray Where You Are, in the same case. Is this a good version of those records, or is this too good to be true? It was a brand new package and sounds DANG good to me. Found it from one of those Canadian, Christian specialty stores on ebay.

Theres different things a person, label or band can own.

You can record an album for a label that pays for the process, they may own that specific recording of those songs and the artwork or packaging that goes with it.

You can also seperately own the publishing rights of that song, which basicaly means anytime anyone rerecords that song they have to pay you or get your permission.

And you can phyisically own your masters. But generally who ever pays for the recording process holds on to those I think. Like you could pay for the recording process, hold your masters and sign to a label who releases your album..they would probably then own that recording of the album even if you still hold onto your masters.

That maybe over simplistic. And it can be varied combinations of each thing depending on the deal negotiated.

As for the Dogs I can't speak for what they own or don't own. That has to do with how their label contracts have been negotiated.

For us basically when people ask stuff about can such and such be done, we are not sure...it all depends on who owns what. We don't have enough information to answer those type questions...all we can do is ask Terry, Derri or Mike. I think Gene had said at one point they owned the first few albums. The BEC material, I have no idea the details of their contracts.

I hope I didn't sound nosy by asking about the ownership. Like I said, I have no idea about those things, but your answers were more than enough to further complicate the matter. Big Grin

Thanks Audi. I'm sure nothing will get done on this anytime soon, but that's okay. If the demand is there, or if God wills, it'll happen. And I wouldn't want to pressure anyone when they're so busy. Besides, we'll be so blessed to have another tour and CD this year.
